Deeply moved by community resistance against repressive regimes, I pursued ethnographic research and data analysis to amplify those stories. My research took place around the world. I was a Ford Foundation/Media Democracy Fund Technology Fellow in 2017 and received the Bronze Prize from Making All Voices Count at the Global Innovation Summit in 2014.

Data for Justice

Participants will learn how to use data as a storytelling tool. We will transform spreadsheets and public records into human stories. The agenda has three parts: Part 1 is a short introduction to accessing public data, part 2 is best practices for analyzing and visualizing data, and part 3 is for interactive discussion and developing community-centered stories using data.
